First things first - let's nail the basics

Plan your

journey

  • Check the date, time and location of your interview
  • Map out your journey in advance, aim to get there 10-15 minutes early
  • Do a practice trip beforehand if possible, and have a backup plan in mind if you're using public transport

Dress for the job

you want

  • Speak to the recruiter/person arranging the interview
  • Ask them about the dress code, and choose your outfit accordingly
  • If you don't have someone to ask, research the company to find out what's appropriate for their culture

Think about your

personal brand

  • Both you and the employer have the opportunity to research each other ahead of the interview
  • Check your social media feeds and pages, make sure you're comfortable with any posts and content that may be visible to others

Make a great first impression

  • Think about positive body language and "non verbal" communication; things like a handshake or eye contact
  • Be friendly and focused from when you first arrive
  • Take a moment to calm any nerves, and encourage yourself to be confident

Let us know if there's anything you need

  • If there are any adjustments or support you need for your interview, let the recruiter know ahead of time
  • This will allow them to make sure they can work with the employer on arrangements
