Online interview

Online interviews is the new normal. There are a few things to keep in mind in order to set yourself up for success.

  • Make sure from the waist up your are wearing business attire and that you are in quiet place whilst doing your interview.
  • Check that your microphone and camera are working with plenty of time to spare to make sure that you are not late.
  • Look at the camera instead of looking at the screen, otherwise it will look like you are looking down instead of up.

PowerPoint Presentation

  • If you need to create a PowerPoint presentation, make sure it is clear and concise.
  • Don’t try to put all the information on the slides. Instead, capture headlines and key points.
  • Use the ‘SmartArt tool’ in PowerPoint to make your presentation more visual and make notes on cards if you need some extra prompts.
  • If your interview is likely to include a psychometric test, search for some examples online to practice.

One-on-one & Panel interview

Though this might seem daunting, see it as an opportunity to get to know your potential employer, and make an effort to sit up straight and look your interviewer in the eye- and smile! Today's panel interviews tend to be more conversational, and allows for a relaxed environment.

The format of the interview will probably be competency based questions revolving around your career, accompanied by some technical questions.
